Yorkshire cider maker Orchards of Hushwaite are appropriately named, growing their apples and producing artisan cider in Husthwaite, North Yorkshire. Husthwaite has been known as the ‘Orchard Village’ since the early 17th Century due to its history of growing and trading fruit and mainly apples. However, by the late 1960s nearly all of the existing orchards had gone and there was very little evidence of the village’s past. This unique cider maker wanted to unearth this manufacturing heritage once more and make use of the fertile ground that still remains. They formed in 2009 to replant the vanishing orchards and use the fruit to make and sell a variety of products including Galtres ciders and juices. Some of their surplus funds each year are used to fund local community projects. Locio, the ethical online marketplace. Looking for a Yorkshire cider subscription?
